Townhouse - Solar Hot Water/Boiler/Metering

This brownstone style town house in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn has an unshaded, flat roof with plenty of sunlight. The owners asked Bright Power to install a solar hot water system at their building.

Solar panels on the roof collect the sun's energy, which is transferred via a fluid system to a hot water tank in the basement of the building. The old boiler was also replaced with a more efficient, oil-fired model. The boiler is activated to heat water whenever sunlight is not available.

After the installation was complete, Bright Power continued to monitor the hot water use and heating bills.

Smart Financing: The owners will receive federal and state tax credits for their system.
