PECO is an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation. PECO serves 1.6 million electric and 491,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania and has about 2,500 employees.

PECO contracted Bright Power through the SAHF (Stewards for Affordable Housing for the Future) Energy Initiative, a project that helps SAHF member organizations evaluate energy efficiency measures for their properties. Bright Power conducted energy audits at five properties in PECO territory across southeast Pennsylvania.

Bright Power evaluated and benchmarked the energy use of these buildings, and conducted on-site reviews. The final audit reports recommended a set of cost effective and energy saving measures for each building. At one property, we recommended a complete overhaul of the heating system, to replace electric baseboard heaters with mini-splits, which use heat pumps. This measure will substantially reduce heating costs, and provide the residents with cooling during the summer months.
