Conor Laver, Ph.D., Chief Scientist

Conor LaverConor is an astrophysicist who channels his statistics and coding powers to effect rigorous energy analysis in the building science world. He designs and refines our methodology in everything from energy modeling to utility analysis to building population analysis. If that doesn't impress people, he reminds them he used to be an astrophysicist, and if that doesn't impress them he pretends to be from Ireland. Then, he returns to the daily hunt for tricky calculation errors and scrupulous debugging of our energy analysis software, EnergyScoreCards™.

Conor joined us from working as a graduate student and postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley, during which time he first-authored 5 papers on topics including the atmosphere, ices, and volcanoes on Io, a moon of Jupiter, and Kalliope, a large asteroid. He has taught English, astronomy, chemistry, math and organic farming/sustainable agriculture in a variety of countries including Ireland, Italy, Spain, the USA and Uganda.

Conor finds that the more time he spends with us, the more his thirst for all things green energy increases, so he consumes all the information he can find about new innovations. He uses his powers to improve access to energy information; to help people understand the sheer amount of energy they use and make decisions to reduce their environmental impact.

Conor is a BPI Multifamily Building Analyst. He has a B.A. in Mod Natural Sciences (Physics) from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley.
